A clean vaporizer means a happy vaporizer owner, and the XMAX Starry is no exception. When it’s clean, it’s easier to use, the vapor tastes better, and it’s more efficient. Our simple cleaning guide will have your XMAX Starry looking brand new in no time. How often you should clean the Starry is up to you, but generally, if you can smell it when it isn’t loaded, if the airflow feels restrictive, or it isn’t performing like you’re used to, it might be time for a scrub.

What do you need?

Before we get started, you’ll need 91 percent or higher isopropyl alcohol, cotton swabs, soap, warm water, two glass cups, and a paperclip.

Taking it apart

Start disassembling the Starry by removing the mouthpiece, and taking the metal screen from inside the oven. Pull the rubber gasket and ceramic screen from the bottom of the mouthpiece, and pop out the black ceramic screen inside. You can use the paper clip, or a similar poker, to remove the metal screen from inside the ceramic piece. You can disassemble the upper half by sliding the metal plate towards the center, which will release the mouthpiece stem. There’s a gasket on the stem that’s easy to lose, so watch out for it when the stem falls out.

What can be soaked

You should never soak, submerge, or wet the main vaporizer unit. All of the pieces from the mouthpiece should be soaked only in warm, soapy water. After a nice soak and a few good stirs, rinse everything in hot water until there’s no soap smell left, then dry everything completely.

Cleaning the oven

If your oven is looking a little worse for wear, you can clean it as well, but you need to be careful not let any alcohol drip down into the heating element. Turn the XMAX Starry upside down, then use a cotton swab damp with isopropyl alcohol to swab out the inside of the oven.

That’s all there is to it

Once everything is dry, reassemble the mouthpiece, and run a burnoff cycle at 464° F to ensure there’s nothing left in the oven. You can keep deep cleaning to a minimum by dumping out the oven right after finishing a session, and wiping down the mouthpiece screen.
